In 1988, the University Council of the former AU, today UFAM, approved the project presented by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, authored by Prof. Deusimar Freire Brasil, with the support of several fishing engineers affiliated to AEPA, proposing the full offer of the course in Amazonas. (Resolutions No. 08/88 of CONSEP and No. 19/88 of 6/10/88 of CONSUNI-UA). Thus, in the first academic semester of 1989, the first class of the Fishing Engineering Course started entirely in Amazonas with the offer of 10 places.
