Between the 17th and 21st of September 2018 in Natal, RN, the 8th edition of the Congress of the Brazilian Society of Aquaculture and Aquatic Biology, the VIII Aquaciência, took place. The proposal to take a look at innovation in aquaculture in Brazil had an effect and brought together producers, researchers, teachers, students and entrepreneurs. About 1,100 people participated in a wide-ranging debate on the main challenges and possible solutions for the segments that make up aquaculture in Brazil. Research, market, management, genetics, health and nutrition were on the agenda of 64 lectures, 12 mini courses, 104 presentations of oral works and hundreds of posters.
